摘要:During the field seasons of 1966, 1967, 1970 and 1971 a considerable amount of fossil fishes were collected by a field party of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology from Chuhsiung, Province Yunnan. The fish remains were preserved in a blackish, grey-yellowish shale. The fish fauna consists of a great number of teleosts and a few holosteans. Together with them numerous conchostracans and ostracods have also been found. A brief description of one of these teleosts is given in this paper.
The here described specimens show close relationship of Mesoclupea known from the Late Mesozoic beds of S. E. China. But its higher coronoid process, lower number of vertebrae, more anterior position of dorsal fin and the acuminate dorsal and anal fins make it different from the latter. At the same time, it differs also greatly from all other known chirocentrid genera. So it is evident that Chuhsiung specimens represent a new genus name Chuhsiungichthys is proposed. The geological age of the fish-bearing deposits is probably of Early Cretaceous.
