  • 1963年生于四川宜宾,博士,研究员。1984年毕业于北京大学,1984-1994年在西南石油学院任教并于其间获硕士学位,1997年在西北大学获博士学位,1997-1999年在中国科学院古脊椎动物与古人类研究所和法国国家自然历史博物馆从事博士后研究。主要从事晚新生代哺乳动物、陆相地层和环境演变研究。先后主持3项国家自然科学基金重点项目、3项中国科学院知识创新工程重要方向项目、1项科技部科技基础性工作专项,目前主持中国科学院战略性先导科技专项项目和第二次青藏高原综合科学考察研究专题。2000年获全国优秀博士论文奖,2010年荣获中国科学院京区“优秀共产党员”称号,2011年入选中国十大重大科学进展和中国科学杰出创新人物、获中国科学院院地合作先进个人二等奖,2012年入选陕西省百人计划,2013年入选国家百千万人才工程并荣获“有突出贡献中青年专家”称号,2014年评为古脊椎动物与古人类研究所杰出研究员,2015年享受国务院政府特殊津贴、入选中国十大科学传播人,2018年荣获尹赞勋地层古生物学奖。已发表学术论著200余篇,其中第一作者超过100篇。

    研究方向:
  • 聚焦于晚新生代哺乳动物化石、陆相生物地层和气候环境演变方面。领导参与了大量卓有成效的野外考察工作,发现了极为丰富的哺乳动物化石。通过深入研究,不仅在系统古生物学和生物地层学方面取得丰硕成果,还提供了更多的证据阐明青藏高原在晚新生代的强烈隆升及其对气候环境演变的巨大影响,证明以披毛犀为代表的冰期动物群起源于高海拔的青藏高原,从而推翻了“北极起源”假说。对中国的新近纪地层进行了综合研究,在陆相地层的划分对比和年代地层框架的建立方面取得新的成果,进一步提高了中国陆相新近系序列与国际地层表对比的精细程度。
